The donation also included the distribution of 500 meals to patients at the Matola Provincial Hospital. These activities are part of ExxonMobil’s annual holiday season campaign in partnership with Plataforma Solidaria Makobo. In 2018, employee volunteers assisted in the distribution of meals to children at the Maputo Central Hospital.
“Every child has the right to food and education and ExxonMobil will continue to support initiatives that empower the most vulnerable in our community,” said Fernando Pegado, P&GA Manager for ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada. “The holiday season is a time for sharing and caring, and our employee volunteers have identified these two important institutions to demonstrate our commitment to our host community.”
Since 2017 ExxonMobil has invested over $6 million across Mozambique in community programs that focus on public health, general education, women and family empowerment, agricultural development and environmental conservation. In December of 2018, ExxonMobil signed a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, to promote activities that support vulnerable women and children, and support the improvement in the quality of life of the most vulnerable.
