ExxonMobil supports oncology department at Maputo Central Hospital

MAPUTO, Mozambique ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada announces the completion of repairs done at the Oncology Department of the Central Hospital of Maputo.
  • Provision of chemo appropriate chairs for the patients
  • Inhouse chemo treatment capacity for the hospital

Implemented by MASC Foundation , by carrying out maintenance and general repairs, the program aimed at improving the facilities and functionality of the cancer treatment wing of the hospital where many facilities were underutilized due to maintenance requirements. The support will ultimately improve the effectiveness of the health professionals while reducing the overall hospital wait time and as more equipment can be used simultaneously, safely, and efficiently.

The support included the provision of appropriate chairs for chemotherapy treatment to ensure greater comfort and safety for the patients while undergoing treatment; the improvement of existing electrical connections and adding sockets throughout the facility and making the new chemotherapy lab where the treatments are prepared, functional and approved for use.

Dr. Satish Tulsidás, Head of the Oncology Unit at Maputo Central Hospital, shared that, “we value the ongoing support of ExxonMobil to the Hospital and the ministry of Health. The work done to the facility will allow us to prepare the chemo treatment in house and maximize the space and provide more comfortable treatment to our patients.”
